Bioprinting

Noun
  • Bioprinting

Bioprinting is one type of an additive manufacturing process. Bioprinting is the addition of cells to biocompatible polymers that mimic the ECM environment to support living cells.

Bioprinting requires a multidisciplinary team of mechanical and bioengineering, biochemistry, IT, and material science experts. Bioprinters are advanced technological biomedical devices that produce promising solutions for many problems by mimicking natural tissues of biomaterials used. A layered manufacturing method is used by depositing materials known as bio-inks to mimic natural tissue properties and create tissue-like structures.
