4K Resolution
- 4K Re●so●lu●ti●on
- ˌɹɛzəˈɫuʃən
The resolution of all display technologies, such as TV, Computer and phone screens continues to improve, which means that displays feature more and more pixels.
A DLP chip with 4K resolution has approximately 4000 pixels (K stands for “kilo”, meaning one-thousand) along the longer side of the chip. For example, the first industrial 4K DLP chipset (link auf TI 4K chip), which will be used in In-Vision’s PANDIA Light Engine, features 4096 x 2176 pixels. With more available pixels, it is possible to resolve finer details or to illuminate larger areas - just like TV displays with more pixels provide sharper images or simply a larger screen.
Benefits of 4K Resolution
- Sharper Image Quality: With four times the pixel count of Full HD (1080p), 4K provides much clearer and sharper images.
- Greater Detail: The increased resolution allows for finer details in images, which is especially noticeable on larger screens.
- Improved Viewing Experience: Even on smaller screens, higher pixel density results in a more immersive visual experience.
- Better for Large Displays: Since 4K has more pixels, it prevents pixelation when viewed on large TVs or projectors.
- Enhanced Color Depth and HDR Support: Many 4K displays support High Dynamic Range (HDR), offering better contrast, deeper blacks, and more vibrant colors.
- Upscaling of Lower-Resolution Content: Most modern 4K TVs feature AI upscaling, improving the quality of 1080p or even lower-resolution content.
- More Detailed Text and Graphics: Useful in professional applications like video editing, photography, and design.
Key Features of 4K Resolution:
- Higher Pixel Density – With 8.3 million pixels (3840 × 2160), 4K displays offer crisper and more detailed visuals compared to lower resolutions.
- Enhanced Image Clarity – More pixels allow for finer details, making images appear more realistic, especially on larger screens.
- Better Color Accuracy – Many 4K screens support wider color gamuts, improving vibrancy and depth in images.
- Improved Scaling for Lower Resolutions – 4K screens can upscale lower-resolution content, making it appear smoother and less pixelated.
