The Firebird DLP® light engine module offers native WQXGA (2560x1600) resolution based on TI’s DLP9000 advanced light control chipset, and tailored to high-resolution 3D printing applications. A key component of the light engine is the on-axis illumination of the DLP® using a TIR prism. This enables a low-distortion, highly uniform light distribution across the whole projection area.

Firebird is available either air- or water-cooled and with a variety of projection lens magnifications, covering different image areas and feature sizes.

The illumination and projection systems are optimized for LED light sources ranging from 365 to 460 nm, and can be adapted to other light sources or wavelengths on request. The light engine module contains an optional intensity measurement module for continuous light-flux feedback.

The controller board builds on the Texas Instruments DLP9000 advanced light control chipset, featuring single-pixel control and high-speed video interfaces. By default, Firebird ships with electronics for single or continuous image projection applications. Other use cases, such as image stitching and scrolling algorithms, can be implemented by our FPGA development teams on request.
